i’m often asked about how i choose participants for my rent weddings. really, it’s somewhat arbitrary in that it really depends on how i’m feeling on any certain day. i ask couples to write me why they feel like they would benefit greatly from receiving free wedding photography. i receive a lot of stories about financial disasters and chronic health ailments, and just a lot of touching stories in general that i’m sure oprah could do great segments on. these stories are all rooted in reality and deserve equal consideration and respect but its not always about what you don’t have or can’t afford; sometimes its about what you DO have. and this was the case with dana and hunter. they had joy. their’s was my first ‘rent wedding’ of the year. i chose dana and hunter because i vibed with the artists within them. from that first email they wrote me i could tell that their love was special, not that others’ aren’t…but their’s had a certain personality to it that was genuine. it’s hard to explain in words so the images below will have to do. these two just exude a certain ’spirit’ that seems lost among the masses today. when i looked over the images certain words come to mind, but the one that stood out to me most was- joy. its written all over their faces. and it makes sense since love can’t truly be considered so unless there’s an element of joy. and joy is lacking if it is not experienced in love. and amidst all the chaos in this world that makes it so difficult for two people to come together, there needs to be peace- without which is impossible to find love and joy. what i saw in los angeles a couple weekends ago was a wedding as they always should be- a celebration of love, joy and peace. three parts of a whole personified in two people. dana and hunter, together, one. congratulations again you two. i had an absolute blast celebrating with you guys and it was an honor to have been able to capture your memories for you. now enough of my rambling and onto the photos-
